Smartphone Application Downloads Forecast

ABI Research has recently published a forecast for smartphone application downloads world wide for 2009 - 2015, and which can bee seen in the chart above.

While iPhone apps are still going to be the leading source of downloads, for the year of 2010, Android is expected to have over 800 millions application downloaded, a major increase compared to 2009. Beside iPhone and Android, Blackberry and Symbian are also catching up on sales. What all this means, at least for me, is that it is a great time to be a mobile application developer :-)

I am ANDROID DEVELOPER :)

Google’s Android application development may be the next big opportunity for your business; you can promote your existing products by building an android version or build new android application or even develop a cool Google Android game application. We can help http://www.xcubelabs.com/

Google Developing Tablet to Take on iPad

Google CEO Eric Schmidt has confirmed that his company is developing a tablet device based on the Android operating system, according to friends that spoke to the executive at a recent event in Los Angeles. The New York Times reports that Google has “been working with several hardware manufacturers,” and “hopes to make its own apps marketplace available for new slate-like devices.”

Although Google is yet to publicly announce such a device, many signs point to its likely launch. For starters, Google has been rumored to be developing a slate device with HTC – the same company it brought Nexus One to market with – since January. Moreover, the company has already announced plans for an e-book store expected to launch within the next few months.

It’s also clear that Google has plans for Android that go way beyond phones. There’s already an Android-powered car on the way, as well as plans for what’s being called “Google TV.” While Chrome OS for netbooks is also expected by year-end (and there are rumored Chrome tablets too), an Android tablet now seems imminent.

A move into tablet devices would also further Google’s growing competition with Apple, who just released the iPad. Many other companies are also expected to join the tablet race this year, and just last week, it was reported that Nokia was developing its own device.

Chennai Super Kings

Well, finally, the big long IPL is over. I saw only a few of the league matches, most of the time @office. @my office they blocked the youtube/ipl website even what ever u search with ipl string that was blocked. But I decided to watch the finals on Sunday (25-04-10) but unfortunately I am @office on that day. Any how i reached my room @8.15 match started @8.30. First 10 over its very bored for me.Only 12 over they scored 63 then for 8 overs CSK scored 100+. total 168 At the end of all, it was the Chennai Super Kings who were destined to take home the IPL – III trophy. Which team I was supporting! CSK the men in yellow shone away under the Mumbai skies.

Lion Roars

Sachin, it was tough luck, but it was such a pleasure to watch him with stitches in his hand. A few catches for Mumbai, which were missed might have turned around the result in Mumbai’s favour, but hey, it’s cricket, remember?

IPL III has been a huge success. Bigger and better than the previous editions, it has seen disruptions from different sections of media, government and the IT department. I hope everything gets sorted out very soon.

- Orange Cap – Sachin Tendulkar

- Purple Cap – Pragyan Ojha

- DLF Golden Player Award – Sachin Tendulkar

Raina played well in all the 3IPL.

Well done Chennai Super Kings, CONGRATS.

ENJOY CHENNAI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOOGLE TESTS TV SEARCH SERVICE

GOOGLE TESTS TV SEARCH SERVICE

Google’s Android is slowly taking over the cellphone market, now it sets it’s sights on your television. Google Inc. is testing a new television-programming search service with Dish Network Corp. How will Google search be utilized in your cable or satellite set-top box?

It will be exciting to see how this will integrate with your set-top box. Today’s technology is closing the gap between the internet and your television. There are some TV’s on the horizon that has built in WiFi and that allows for widgets to scroll across the bottom while your are watching television. This is a good move for Google to try and increase their ad revenue and its good for Dish Network because it could possibly catapult them out of last place amongst the big cable and satellite providers.

GOOGLE TESTING 1 GIGABIT INTERNET SERVICE

Google is testing a new fiber optic network in a select few locations. There was a rumor floating around that the Nexus One would have the ability to use VOIP to make calls without the need for a wireless carrier. Looks like Google has bigger plans in the making.

Here’s a statement from Google on this matter.
“We’re planning to build and test ultra high-speed broadband networks in a small number of trial locations across the United States. We’ll deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today with 1 gigabit per second, fiber-to-the-home connections. We plan to offer service at a competitive price to at least 50,000 and potentially up to 500,000 people.
Our goal is to experiment with new ways to help make Internet access better and faster for everyone. Here are some specific things that we have in mind:
• Next generation apps: We want to see what developers and users can do with ultra high-speeds, whether it’s creating new bandwidth-intensive “killer apps” and services, or other uses we can’t yet imagine.
• New deployment techniques: We’ll test new ways to build fiber networks, and to help inform and support deployments elsewhere, we’ll share key lessons learned with the world.
• Openness and choice: We’ll operate an “open access” network, giving users the choice of multiple service providers. And consistent with our past advocacy, we’ll manage our network in an open, non-discriminatory and transparent way.”

If you would like your area to be included in this testing you can nominate it here and you might be lucky enough to test it.
